As Winter approaches, the need to change ones skin care becomes more evident with each patch of dry skin that emerges. Whether you spend a lot of time indoors or outdoors, your skin is exposed to an environment that can greatly reduce the moisture content in your skin. Theraplex has three different formulas that can help you:
With its unique fractionated petrolatum formula, Theraplex can help to not only protect your skin from the elements but also to restore the moisture your skin craves.
Winter affects the skin in several ways. For instance, as we begin to use heat in the home or office, the humidity drops. This decrease in the moisture of the environment around you means that the skin will actually lose moisture to the air as you work or sleep. There are many simply strategies to help avoid getting dry, itchy skin. One simple method that has been used for decades is to increase the humidity of the rooms in which you spend the most of your time. This can be as easy as keeping a pot of water in front of your air ducts or placed upon the radiators or as complicated as an integrated moisture control system in your heating and cooling system. If you or your children suffer from atopic dermatitis, the latter might be the most efficient method of increasing moisture. Another alternative is to use humidifiers in each room. Several inexpensive, easy-to-use devices are available at local retail stores.
In addition to trying to control your environment as best you can, be sure to pay attention to your skin. The best time to try to ělock inî moisture to your skin is while it is still moist. As soon as you or your children get out of a shower or bath, try to use a light emollient such as Theraplex Clear lotion to form a light barrier and protect the skin. Extremely dry skin may require additional moisture from Theraplex Hydrolotion or the thicker emollient cream (which is especially good for severely dry hands, feet, elbows and cuticles).
Also, be aware that not all scaly, red skin is just dry. There are many skin disorders that flare in the winter months including psoriasis and eczema. In some instances, a trip to a Dermatologist can help to avoid a long itchy season. So, if your skin does not improve in a week or two, consider making an appointment.
In certain parts of the country, Theraplex can be a little tough to find, but if you ask your local pharmacy to order it, they will be able to get it for you. I believe you will find it is worth the extra effort. You can also purchase Theraplex online here at www.theraplex.com.
